Dewans & Associates is among the oldest legal houses in Punjab — for over a hundred years, counsel to families, landholders, enterprises and institutions before the courts of the region and the nation.
The name Dewan is a hereditary office of the princely state of Nabha — the minister and counsel to the throne. From that tradition of stewardship the firm was founded in 1919 by Sh. Dewan R. C. Goyal, and has practised without interruption ever since.
It passed to his son, Sh. Dewan Vinod Kumar Goyal — both now departed — and is carried today by Dewan Vakul Vinod Goyal, the third generation of the same house, and Senior Partner Ms. Suchita Dewan, into its second century.
The firm is older than the courts before which it appears: it predates the Punjab & Haryana High Court, the PEPSU High Court, and the Lahore High Court itself.

The firm is today led by Dewan Vakul Vinod Goyal — Counsel at the Bar of the Supreme Court of India, and heir to the Dewan office of Nabha. He carries the house into its second century, pairing its inherited authority with a modern, cross-border practice.
